the elbow!

the only positive to have come out of my two recent encounters with bone fractures are the crazy-ass images. the surgery went well on monday - no screws were required, and they just
jammed the fragment back into place with a large needle. here's the picture:

wacky.

please note the surgeon's hand gently cradling my arm as i lie in an anesthetized stupor.

i was only in hospital for two days, which wasn't so bad. particularly since i acquired several seasons of crap american tv shows. now i'm at home, eating bowls of thai green curry (the official comfort food of the pooles - thanks kate!) and swaddling my arm in frozen peas. oh, and no cast!

Nice work. Surely the frozen peas are a fringe benefit as well? Or not. You can stream the new Wilco album to entertain yourself when your eyes get tired of looking at the computer screen:

Jeez. You go away for a month and a half and all of your readers desert you? Am I the only one with nothing better to do than look at Spanish Doughnuts (and comment on such important topics)? Am I going to have to start saying things about hipsters?

i'm afraid the hipsters have left the building.

it is pretty tragic though. maybe we should construct a bunch of fake commenters and make them really cool. That way, when people do mosey back, they can be jealous at how much fun we've been having without them.

we should. except then you'll have to delete these comments.

ah, such a fiendish plan.

i had just about given up on the blog. but michael has hijacked my tv to watch stanley cup playoffs, so i decided i would give you one more try. so sorry to hear about the elbow (and what's this about a robot arm and other fractures? when did all this happen?).

thought of you a couple of weeks ago when the Dead played the Spectrum -- soldier field summer of '95, right? michael and i had good seats -- slightly awkward moment while cruising the parking lot scene though when i spotted my boss and his wife. thankfully, all we had in hand were beers.

oh sal,
the tale of robo-arm #1 is long and stupid. and well-documented on this here blog. go back to july 2007 and have a gander.

and yes - soldier field '95. my first and only dead show.

sorry to hear about the michael hijacking. germany's top model (aka - "heidi time!") finished up last night, so we now have a massive slot of free time on thursday evenings.

Two things:

#!) WTF? with the needle? Did he do it live or something while streaming X-rays? that doesn't sound good.

#2)His name is Dougie and his side burns and stone grooves will kick your ass:

Dead '95... yup, I was there too. Apparently we go back further than we thought. Have we discussed this before?

At Soldier Field, I meant.

alex- is the bananaphone the new rick roll or has dresden finally driven you crazy?

jeff said...

alex - they have a fluoroscope there, basically real-time x-ray technology. i didn't see them taking these ones, because i was passed out. however, i did when they were confirming the fracture. real-time view of all the bones in your arm moving is pretty creepy.

and speaking of creepy: douglas. we need to stop doing this.

if any of you care enough to actually look at the time stamps on these last three comments, you'll realize that on a sat. morning, kate and i are at home, sitting on two different computers, both commenting on our blog. we're cool.

the couple that comments on blogs together...stays in real time communication?

small world (re: soldier field).
