Dum Dee Dum II

We've been working very hard at being the laziest bloggers ever. In fact, if there was
some sort of Olympic category for that we would be standing on top of the podium, biting that
gold medal with tears streaming down our cheeks.

Oh well. The Olympics are almost over (go Great Britain??) so it's time to get on with it all.

Here are things that have been happening in no particular order:
- Fantasy Film Fest in Berlin: awesome assortment of sci-fi, horror, and thriller movies, all in
English (or subtitled in English) accompanied by buckets of popcorn. We saw Afro Samurai (Sammy Jackson, not surprisingly, makes a bad-ass samurai), Mad Detective (and you thought cops were crazy in the US), and Outlander (Who doesn't like a sci-fi Viking epic?)

- We got a cleaning lady. The upshot of which is that I can sit on my couch and post on the blog while our bathroom magically cleans itself. This situation has leapt into contention for one of the best things of all time.

- We just bought 4 lbs of wild board meat yesterday. So if anyone happens to be traipsing through Berlin, let us know and maybe we can organize a good old-fashioned pig roast. Yeeha!

- And we went on a massive trip through the US of A. There were many highlights, including introducing ourselves to our newest nephew (Jack-Attack!), eating tacos from a taqueria, and visiting a dinosaur dig site. However, one of the best bits was driving in a remarkably fuel-efficient car from Denver to Seattle. We saw a lot of this:

Broken up with stuff like this:

Lord love a road trip.

I'm off to try and find a job in Berlin. Maybe I'll post more while our floor is vacuuming itself.

I'm so glad to hear that love of sci-fi and horror flicks really is a genetic trait of mine. Parker seems to think I'm the black sheep for enjoying them so much! :) It certainly runs in the Stear family...

Will you have any pig left for next fall? I'm guess it will already be digested.

Cleaning ladies rock!

Oh my god be glad you don't live in this craptacular country during "these Olympic Games." Every two seconds there's somebody talking about "Team GB", and every single athlete has to be asked about London 2012 (obviously Beijing 2008 is just a warmup event). Only consolation is the "plucky Brit loser" interview when some distance runner smashes a national record and comes in 22nd in the heat.

woo hoo! little sister's first post on the blog. I'm surpised it wsa the sci-fi references that pulled you in...

"Team GB" sounds pretty douchey.

I find the sledging between GB and Australia in regards to medal tally pretty funny. Giving the 10x population advantage of the England et al., can they really feel good about having 4 more golds than Australia?

The German coverage is pretty funny. They get excited when Germany wins, but are also pretty hilarious at pointing out when Germany sucks. Very even-handed.

I just hate "team GB" more and more with each passing day. And the BBC too. It's horrible. I'd like to be knocked out and wake up sometime after September 2012, although saying that, they'll probably be talking about it for the next 100 years if 1966 is anything to go by....Yes, the Oz-Pom sledgeoff is rather silly, although I'm not sure the Australians are exactly coming out of it smelling like roses, despite their population advantage and your household's patriotism. Speaking of which, boy have the USA sucked in things we're usually good at (boxing, running fast over short distances, taking life-threatening amounts of anabolic steroids...).

USA road trip?? Where was the Philly leg? I demand a rematch.

a rematch for what, sunshine? Pillsburys? We know who's going to win that one. Oh yes.

The east coast will get its turn. Don't you worry your high-powered lawyer head about that.
