Me! All about me!

Kate has been working very hard the last few months - a serious nose-grindstone situation. Which explains why it's fallen primarily on me to update this wee corner of the internet.

In keeping with the current state of things, I present you a completely self-absorbed post. First up, the link for the Nokia commercial I was in.

For those of you who haven't heard the story, I fell in with a very nice Finnish director who thought I had the right "look" for a commercial he was directing. See above. We got on like a house on fire, and proceeded to hatch a diabolical scheme involving him shooting a documentary following my travels across the U.S.A. en route to the Beard and Moustache and Championships in Anchorage. It didn't pan out for a number of reasons involving work, broken elbows, and global financial crises - which is a real shame because that would have been awesome. Way better than some Freddie Mercury look-a-like at the planetarium.

And here are some pictures of me and my new glasses...

The ball on the stick in the background is what I like to call local flava.

Methinks that the guy in the green t-shirt and matching headband don't really love that music half as much as the advertising claims he do. Nonetheless, congratulations on your stardom. And damn! those is some sexy specs.

Also, now that we're making seasonal transitions: Go Bears! I actually watched the Cubs while listening to the Bears yesterday. It was sportstastic, although one of those teams didn't exactly light things up (hint: it wasn't the team that Jay Cutler pitches for).

yeh, i think i would actually prefer almost any of the other music presented in the ad. but hey, it's a small sacrifice to make for the cause of personal fame.

i won't even ask how the browns are doing. i wonder if it's the cleveland water that dooms all local sports teams to failure. and if the transient successes we've had in the last 4 decades can be attributed to really good batches of britta filters.

At least the Detroit-Minnesota pennant race is between two teams we don't have any actual reason to hate (or do you, since they're divisional rivals?). Too bad either one of them will get spanked into next season by the Yankees. [please award me extra points for not actually rhyming spank and yank...]

no real hatred there. if my RIBTIS (racially insensitive baseball team i support) had actually come out to play this year, maybe i'd be constructing detroit/minnesota voodoo dolls at this point. but since they didn't, i couldn't give 1.5 shits. it is cool that it's coming down to the last series. let's see some good baseball. blah blah.

i don't even want to talk about spanking derek jeter.

--I thought that was why you had that satisfied smile on your face in the Nokia ad.

douglas. you're better than that.

Well, apparently I'm not better than that. At least not after the first day of school. I will try harder next time.

hey! speaking of my crappy hometown baseball team - Eric Wedge has been given the boot! now that makes me smile. maybe even in a satisfied sort of way.

I was thinking about this while watching the Cubs lose to the Pirates (the Pirates! They are worse than the Cleveland Native Americans!) today. Maybe Bob Brenly (who currently does color commentary for the Cub games) will get the job in Cleveland? He's a native Ohioan (Ohian? Ohioer? Oho? Anyway, he's from Ohio), and owns a World Series ring...

Now you look like a Professor in Berlin. Those are some intense camera-gazes. Did the Finnish director teach you how to work the camera like that?

jeff said...

no dude. just seen zoolander one too many times.

i call that gaze "hairy beast"
