Kate went to the dentist today, and we're happy to report that after 2+ weeks of wisdom tooth hell, she is finally on the mend. No more bacteria, no more pus tsunamis, and significantly less pain. Huzzah!
This has been a truly hellish experience, and I want to commemorate its conclusion with a photo. If things hadn't gone as pear-shaped as they did, I was planning on snapping some shots of a chipmunk-cheeked Kate on the couch, wrapped up in her fuzzy bathrobe and ringing a bell to signal that she wanted more ice cream. However, she was so miserable that pictures were not an option.
Instead, here is one of when when I got my wisdom teeth out - back in the old country, where they use general anesthesia and give you proper (ie, chock full of big-time opiate fun) pain pills afterwards. Of course, being young and somewhat stupid, I supplemented my pain medication with hefty doses of high-quality vodka. Which perhaps explains why I'm clutching a metallic pink dolphin to my chest.

Don't blame the dolphin on the vodka. You would've been doing that with or without all the pills/booze.
true. but if hadn't looked so pathetic, lying on the couch in a pill/vodka induced stupor, my friends probably wouldn't have bought me the dolphin.
I don't know where in the old country you had your wisdom teeth removed, but all I got was a couple of shots of novocain and a dentist who placed his foot next to my head for leverage when removing each of my FOUR (4) wisdom teeth. ouch. Love the slippers.
Btw, my mom has made murmurings about getting her house in better condition to sell someday. Your amoeba's days may be numbered.
oh no! amoeba down! take a picture if you get the chance.
sorry that your dentist didn't match up to my mine in the nitrous oxide/pain pill giveaway. kate had the same experience here. bit of novacaine, some double strength ibuprofen and you're on your way.
perahps it helped that my dentist was super teh gay (which extended to the dental techs - heard a super raunchy goat procreation joke as i was going under - while being referred to as "buddy" and having my shoulder caressed.0
go liverpool! and go homer slippers!
My wisdom teeth experience was a combination of you guys. Happy happy general anesthesia followed by a 2-day haze of drugs and nice friends changing my gauze and looking after me....followed by 2 weeks of bleeding and pain and infection that drove me mad.
the guy who pulled my wisdom teeth (four (4) as well) also does dental surgery for the detroit redwings. no shortage of general and local anesthetics, before, during and after the yankery, and then a big prescription of novacaine. i didn't know who i was for about three years after that.
on another note, are you happy to have kerry wood coming your way? and if cc goes to the yankees, kate, you're under no circumstances allowed to start cheering for them. i think everybody will be on my side on this one.
as long we're keeping score, the dolphin incident was also preceded by the removal of 4 teeth.
i don't mind the kerry wood deal. i might have been a little happier with a 1 year deal to Trevor Hoffman, as opposed to the 2-3 that wood will probably get. Either way, a good veteran presence in our bullpen is a whole lot of fantastic. And there's no way he'll suck more than Joe Borowski.
I would be slightly peeved if CC went to the yankees. and if kate suddenly started rooting for them, i'd have to get all parliamentary on her ass and declare a vote of no confidence on her BRAIN.
i am well offended by the suggestion that i would ever become a yankees fan,
i say bitch, please
cc joining the yankees would only lead me to lose respect for cc and to be really quite sad
i suppose with the bankruptcy the cubs won't be offering cc any deals
Oh, but the bankruptcy doesn't affect the Cubs, who are the only solvent part of the Tribune Company. Anyway, it looks like the Cubs may end up with Peavy, and as for all your bitch, please-ing: all I'm saying is that there was some pretty reckless support of the Milwaukee Brewers happening last season as I recall, so uh, you know (sing this part:) track record!
Although I know the Brewers aren't as offensive as the Yankees (is there a team in baseball more offensive than the Yankees? --answers on my desk by 5pm Friday).
Wood had a good season last year. He blew a few saves early on, but was dependable once he settled into the role. Pretty much everybody in Chicago is sad to see him go, although we all knew it was going to happen.
People we will not be sad to see go: Blagojevich.
